Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about playing, online matches, and settings on AsobiStadium.
Videos, streaming and uploads
Can I record or stream myself playing the games and post the videos?
Yes, please do. You are free to live-stream or upload videos of the games on AsobiStadium to any service, including YouTube, Twitch, X (Twitter) and TikTok. No permission is needed. Any format is fine: let's plays, commentary, clips, shorts and so on.
Can I monetize the videos?
Yes. Ad revenue, memberships, tips (such as Super Chat) and sponsored videos are all fine, as long as the platform you use allows them. You do not owe us any payment or report.
Does the same apply to companies and organizations?
Yes. Individuals, companies and organizations may all create, stream and monetize videos under the same terms. Streamers and VTubers signed to an agency, and official company channels, need no special contract or procedure.
Do I need to contact you before streaming or monetizing?
No. Neither advance notice nor a report afterwards is required. Just go ahead and stream or post.
Do I need to credit the site?
No, you do not need to credit the site.
Can I post screenshots on social media or a blog?
Yes, just like videos. You may use screenshots of the games in social media posts, blog articles, video thumbnails and so on.
Could the game's images or sounds cause a copyright problem for my video?
The images and sound effects in the games were made by this site, and you may include them in your videos. We do not register them with any rights-management system (such as Content ID). However, we cannot take responsibility for decisions made by the video platform, or for music and other material you add to your video yourself.
Is there anything I must not do?
Only the following:
- Do not copy, modify or redistribute the game files themselves, or embed or re-host the games on another site (videos and screenshots are free to use, but this site is the only place the games are served from).
- Do not suggest that you are official or affiliated with this site.
- Do not use the games for content that is illegal, offensive or hurtful to others.
Please also check the terms of the platform you stream on. Online matches show your opponent's player name on screen, so please be considerate of them. If this policy changes, we will announce it on this page; videos published before a change will not be affected.
Playing the games
Does it cost anything to play?
No. Every game is free. There is nothing to download and no account to create: open the page and start playing.
Which devices and browsers are supported?
You can play on computers (Windows and Mac) and on phones and tablets (iPhone, iPad and Android). We recommend the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. The phone layout is chosen automatically when you open a game. You can also switch manually with the "Phone version" / "PC version" link below the game.
Do I need to install an app?
No. The games run in your browser. On a phone, you can use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" to open the site like an app.
Where can I find the rules and controls?
Press the "?" button at the top right of any game to open its rules and controls. On a computer, an article with the rules and tips is also shown below each game.
Can I play alone?
Yes. The competitive games include a CPU (computer) opponent with selectable levels. Choose "Auto" and the level adjusts itself as you win and lose. The score-attack games are single-player by design.
Is the site available in Japanese?
Yes. Press "日本語" at the top right of the page to switch the site and the games to Japanese. If your browser language is Japanese, the site opens in Japanese automatically.
Online play
How do I start an online match?
On the title screen of a game that supports online play, choose "Online Play" and pick a player name (3 to 12 characters). Then either create your own room with "Create Room" and wait for an opponent, join a room from the list, or use "Quick Match" to enter an open room. The match starts when the players are in.
I only want to play with friends and family
When creating a room, choose "Private" and set a password, then share it with your friends. Only people who know the password can enter. Private rooms do not appear in the public list.
Will I play against strangers?
If you enter a public room, you may play against other people who are online at the same time. There is no chat; the only things the opponent sees are your player name and the match itself. If you prefer not to play with strangers, use a private room.
I cannot find an opponent
Public rooms stay empty when nobody else is playing at that moment. Arrange a time with a friend and use a private room, or try a match against the CPU.
My opponent left in the middle of a match
If the opponent leaves or loses their connection, the CPU takes over their side so the match can continue (the details vary by game). The result is shown as usual when the match ends.
What happens when the time limit runs out?
Each room has a time limit per move (or per throw) chosen when the room is created. When it runs out, the game applies its own rule, such as forfeiting that move or advancing automatically. Some games allow "none" in private rooms. See the "?" in each game for details.
Settings and data
Where are my player name and records stored?
Only in your browser (localStorage). They are not stored on our servers, so they do not carry over to another browser or another device.
My records and high scores disappeared
Clearing your browser's site data or browsing data also removes your records and settings. Records made in a private (incognito) window are discarded when the window is closed. To keep your records, play in a normal window of the same browser.
Can I change my player name?
Yes. Use "Rename" on the online lobby screen at any time.
There is no sound
Use the speaker button at the top right of the game to turn sound effects on or off and set the volume. On phones, sound may be muted while the device is in silent mode (the ring/silent switch on iPhone). Check the device volume as well.
Can I play in a larger view?
Use the full-screen button at the top right of the game to switch the browser to full screen. On phones, the games are designed for portrait orientation.
Troubleshooting
The game is choppy or slow
Close other tabs and apps, update your browser to the latest version, and reload the page. Older devices and power-saving modes can slow things down.
The game does not appear or the page is blank
Reload the page. If it still does not appear, update your browser or try a different one. Very old browsers may not be able to run the games.
I found a bug or have a suggestion
Please tell us through the contact form. Including the game name, your device and browser, and what happened on which screen helps us look into it.
Will more games be added?
Yes, new games are added over time. They appear in the list on the top page.
